SERVICES

Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM)

Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) is a method of hands-on (Manual) treatment used by Osteopathic Physicians to treat a great variety of medical and physical issues.  OMM can be useful in relieving pain, improving and restoring more normal function and promoting the body's natural ability to heal.  OMM is used for acute and chronic issues by moving and correcting issues in the fascia (connective tissues, ligaments, and tendons), muscles, nerve and joints.

Most techniques are gentle and involve very little effort, while others can be more aggressive that can be uncomfortable for a brief moment.  The patient will notice immediately an improved pain level, range of motion, and well being.

OMM is helpful for various conditions including:

Acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions: low back pain, neck pain, sports injuries, arthritis and degenerative processes, tendonitis, fibromyalgia & chronic fatigue syndrome

Ear, Nose and Throat conditions: ear infections, sinus infections, vertigo, eustachian tube dysfunction, TMJ

Pregnancy: Low back pain and other musculoskeletal pain

 Newborn: colic, reflux, ear infections

GYN: dysmenorrhea (period cramps), pelvic pain, pelvic floor issues

Neurologic: headaches, concussions, traumatic brain injury, carpel tunnel syndrome

Auricular Acupuncture

Acupuncture is used with OMM in this practice to help eliminate pain, anxiety/depression (also associated with chronic pain), motion issues, mild to moderate Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI/concussions), headaches and more.

Auricular Acupuncture is a form of acupuncture that uses only the ear to help stimulate certain nerves to help the patient.  We use small “semi-permanent” needles.  Once placed they stay in the ear until they fall out on their own.  They could be in place for up to 7-10 days.  Some protocols are weekly sessions for 10 or greater weeks to achieve your health care goals.  These appointments are only 10 minutes long as this is a quick and easy procedure with great effect.

All forms of acupuncture including Auricular have many scientific articles supporting their use.  While it is a useful modality and can be used in conjunction with medication (that your PCP or specialist prescribe), it does not work for everyone like any other medical intervention.  Studies show that 80-90% of people are positively affected by acupuncture.  Dr Langevin can determine quickly if there will be a significant benefit for you.

“I had lived with lower back pain from an injury for 3 years. Tried the standard physical therapy for 6 months with limited results. I had gotten to the point where the lower back pain affected my walking to a degree my boots worn unevenly and resulted in hip pain. Dr Langevin and his use of OMM changed my life and freed me from the pain.”

About the practice

What is a micropractice?

A micropractice is a medical practice that generally runs with few (or no) staff and utilizes technology to keep overhead low which allows the physician to spend more time with each patient. We want to get to know you and your family and spend time developing relationships instead of on the "treadmill" of industrial medicine.  Please be patient as during the work day we may not answer the phone while with a patient.  Just leave a message and we will return your email, call or text.

What to expect during a visit

Please arrive on time. Please wear comfortable clothing, gym clothes are preferred. NO dresses, spandex/tights, jeans or yoga pants.

Many times you can expect an improvement in any restricted range of motion and some decrease in pain. No treatment will correct all issues at once. The longer an issue has existed, the more treatment will be needed. Most issues will require weekly visits for a short amount of time. At the end of the visit, we will discuss changes in lifestyle and movement that will help recovery and prevent further issues.

Payment

Star Valley Osteopathy does not participate with third party payments to include MEDICARE and MEDICAID.  Payment is expected in full at the end of the appointment.  Cash or card (3% credit card fee added to bill), as well as check.

Dr Langevin is a fully licensed physician through the Wyoming Board of Medicine. You may use a Health Savings Account (HSA) for the visit.

Upon request a Superbill will be provided at the end of the visit. This may be used to submit to your insurance company (not MEDICARE) for possible reimbursement. This practice has no relationship with any insurance company. Reimbursement or coverage is policy specific.

State and federal law do not allow private fee-for-service practices to see Medicaid patients at all.

Medicare patients can be seen but will have to review and sign the Medicare Opt Out Form along with the New Patient intake form.  Bring both to the first appointment.
